Tucked into its own private corner of Refuge Bay, Aer is our largest geodesic dome—an immersive, four-season escape surrounded by open sky, forest and the preserved wetlands of Refuge Bay. There are no busy campground rows here; the experience is intentionally quiet, spacious and secluded.

Inside, Aer’s oversized panoramic window brings the landscape right into the dome, while the clear roof above makes evenings especially memorable when the stars come out. The dome can accommodate up to 8 guests, with a King and Queen bed sleeping 4 guests as well as convertible CordaRoy nest chair and air mattress providing sleeping spaces for additional guests.

Aer is truly off-grid, and that is part of the experience. There is no Wi-Fi, conventional household power, running water in the dome or air conditioning inside the dome. Battery packs are provided for charging personal devices, cellular service is generally strong, and ventilation and battery-powered fans help keep air moving during warmer weather.

During the cooler months, Aer is heated by a wood-burning stove. We pre-warm the dome for your 4:00 PM arrival, but guests should be comfortable tending a fire during their stay—especially on Alberta’s coldest winter nights.

Your site includes a private wood-fired sauna, outdoor firepit and cooking area with a propane BBQ. A private heated composting washroom and separate private shower facility are located just steps from the dome.

* Requests for additional guests or tent pads (May – Oct) can be made on our booking page for an additional cost, or you can reach out to us.
** For the full Refuge Bay experience, you can also add your own private wood-fired hot tub for $175 per stay. It is filled with fresh water for every rental and includes the firewood needed to heat and enjoy it.Aer is best suited to guests looking for privacy, nature and something intentionally different from a hotel or traditional cabin—a place to unplug, slow down, tend the fire and experience Alberta’s changing seasons from a space that still feels completely your own.
