Things to know before booking
Checking In/Out
Guests who have a reservation can check-in after 4pm and will be required to check-out before 11am.
Pets
Typically pets are not allowed, but on occasion exceptions may be granted. If an exception is granted a pet fee will be assessed.
The penalty for having an unapproved pet on site is $500.
Please complete this form if you wish to be considered for an exception and our team will be happy to review.
Cancellation Policy
Reservations cancelled at least 30 days before check-in are eligible for a refund, less a 3% credit card processing fee. Alternatively, we can issue a credit for the full booking amount, which never expires.
The 3% fee represents non-refundable payment processing charges incurred at the time of booking. For reservations made fewer than 30 days before check-in, a refund (less the 3% processing fee) is available if the reservation is cancelled within 48 hours of booking and at least 14 days before check-in.
For cancellations made after these periods, a 50% refund will be issued up to 7 days before check-in. No refunds are available for cancellations made within 7 days of arrival.
Refuge Bay is a year-round destination, and guests should expect seasonal weather conditions. Weather, road conditions, smoke, rain, snow, wind, temperature, or other naturally occurring environmental conditions do not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund.

Fire Pit
Sit back and relax by the fire with unlimited chopped wood, free of charge during your stay. Please do not cut down trees for firewood, fires are only permitted in the fire pit and wood stoves.
Fire bans must be adhered to. If there is a fire ban in place, we will notify you before your arrival and offer a propane fire pit as an alternative.
Woodstove & BBQ
Heaters are disconnected during the summer months. When a cooler night arises please feel free to utilize the woodstove in the dome. During the winter months fireplaces are reconnected and the wood stoves are then utilized to ensure things are warm and cozy.
A propane BBQ with gas is also provided onsite which can be used for cooking.
Utilities
Domes
Our Domes, are designed to provide a comfortable and adventurous stay. Each dome features:
- Off-Grid Living: Refuge Bay is an off-grid site, so there is no electricity or running water inside the domes.
- Power Solutions: Battery packs are provided for charging personal devices. For guests who require sleep aid machines, a generator can be supplied for a nominal fee.
- Heating and Cooling: Our domes are equipped with a wood stove and a propane fireplace to keep you cozy during the winter months. Since the domes are off-grid, guests will need to tend to the wood stove by stoking and adding wood as needed for warmth.
- For summer airflow, the domes feature exterior vents and battery-powered fans, though please note there is no air conditioning. During peak sunlight hours, the domes may become warm (similar to tents), but as the sun sets, the temperature will naturally cool, offering a comfortable environment for rest.
- Cooking Facilities: While there is no formal kitchen, each dome includes a barbecue with a burner, a firepit with a grill, and a wood stove for light cooking inside the dome. Basic cooking necessities are provided, with more details available in the Welcome Guide.
- Bathroom Facilities: Enjoy private bathroom amenities, including a stand-alone shower room with running water and a sink, as well as a separate washroom unit featuring a composting toilet. These facilities are for your exclusive use and are conveniently located just steps away from the dome for easy access.
Cabins & Cottages
Our Cabins & Cottages, are fully equipped to ensure your stay is as comfortable as it is adventurous. Each tiny home features:
- Electricity: Reliable power supply for all your modern conveniences.
- Water: Fresh, clean water for drinking, cooking, and bathing.
- Heating and Cooling: Climate control systems to keep you comfortable in any season.
- Bathroom Facilities: Experience luxury in your private bathroom, featuring a custom concrete sink, a spa-inspired shower, and an eco-friendly composting toilet. Designed for both comfort and sustainability, these facilities offer a serene, high-end retreat in the heart of nature.
- Kitchenette: Equipped with essential appliances and utensils for meal preparation.
Food & Drinks
Food and drinks are not provided during your stay, however we offer charcuterie boxes, s’more packages and beverages that can be ordered during booking or added to any reservation.
Orders for food and drinks must be placed 48 hours prior to arrival.

Nestle into your CordoRoy NEST Chair! During the day it's a comfortable memory foam chair perfect for cuddling up with a hot beverage or your favourite book.
For our larger groups that stay in the Dome, it also unfolds to become an extra bed for your convenience.

Wood Fired Hot Tub Rental
$175 per stay. Every rental comes complete fresh with a fresh water fill (no harsh chemicals are added) and additional chopped wood supplied close at hand!
**Summer user insider tip: Leave the hot tub cool as a cold plunge and then start a fire in the evening to enjoy after it has cooled off.
Wifi
Free Wi-Fi is available exclusively for our cabins and cottages. Please note that our domes do not have Wi-Fi access.
